Brighton 1-1 Everton: Wayne Rooney fires home a late penalty to rescue a point for The Toffees and ease the pressure on boss Ronald Koeman

Wayne Rooney rescued a point for Everton after converting a late penalty, just minutes after Anthony Knockaert had put Brighton ahead.

Both sides lacked quality in a dour first-half with neither side looking much of a threat going forward. The home-side perhaps came closest to breaking the deadlock but Lewis Dunk's shot was blocked by Michael Keane.

The second-half also offered very little in terms of entertaining football until a late flourish saw Rooney score a penalty to cancel out Knockaert's opener.
