Blues Building Foundations For Success, Says Ex-Skipper

Former Everton captain David Weir believes Sam Allardyce has found a formula to settle the Toffees’ defence - and build a platform for “an exciting season” in 2018/19.

The Blues had conceded 46 goals in 25 games when Allardyce succeeded Ronald Koeman at the end of November - but have leaked just 28 in their 23 outings since.

Both Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines have been successfully reintegrated into the back four after returning from injury, while summer arrival Jordan Pickford has continued to flourish in goal under the guidance of Allardyce, a manager he previously worked with at Sunderland.
