Sam Allardyce hailed Everton’s backline after the Blues snuffed out Liverpool’s attacking threat in the 231st Merseyside derby on Saturday.
The Toffees limited Jurgen Klopp’s men to just three shots on target at Goodison Park, an impressive statistic when you consider the Reds are the second-highest Premier League goalscorers this season.
The shutout is further evidence that the Blues are starting to reap the benefits from having their most experienced defenders fit and available.
Allardyce was appointed Everton boss in November but was only able to call on Seamus Coleman for the first time on 31 January, as the Blues saw off Leicester City 2-1.
