1) Walcott was first discovered by Swindon Town, but he left for Southampton in 2002 after six months with the Robins.
2) Aged just 14, he signed a sponsorship agreement with sportswear giants Nike.
3) He became Southampton’s youngest ever player – at 16 years 143 days - when coming on as substitute in a 0-0 Championship draw with Wolves in August 2005. A few months later, in October, his goal against Leeds United saw him also become Saints’ youngest goalscorer.
