Men's Golf sits eighth after opening round

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Evansville men's golf team opened the Lonnie Barton Invitational in St. Augustine, Fla. with a team score of 306, putting the Purple Aces in eighth after the first round the LPGA Country Club.

Evansville began the tournament with a first-round 306, placing the Aces eighth among a crowded pack as UE sits just six strokes back of third-place Bryant. The 14-team field, featuring 11 NCAA Division I teams, was led by Fort Wayne, who finished four under as a team with a first-round 284.

On the opening day, the Aces were paced by Tyler Gray, who fired a first-round 74 to place him in a tie for 14th.
