JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Led by sophomore Spencer Wagner and freshman Tyler Roat's impressive rounds, the University of Evansville men's golf team recorded a strong opening at the Benbow Invitational at Blue Sky Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
Evansville carded a 297 as a team in the first round, placing the Aces in third in the eight-team field. After the opening round, Evansville sits just seven strokes off tournament host and leader Butler, who finished the first round with a 290.
Wagner and Roat, who is competing as an individual, each recorded two-under 70s in the opening round as the two sit in a tie for second after the first day.
