EVANSVILLE - Opening the season with the first of their three home meets, the University of Evansville men's and women's cross country teams performed well at the Evansville Opener on Friday evening at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville.
Both men's and women's teams finished in fifth-place with the men competing in a six-team field and the women joining a group of seven teams. Ohio State captured both the men's and women's team medals, winning over Marquette.
Senior Sam Weldon paced Evansville's women, capturing a 33rd-place finish with a time of 20:37.7. In a group of three just 30 seconds behind Weldon were Emma Boebinger (37th, 21:06.
