Diamond suffer extra inning heartbreaker in opener at Kennesaw State

ATLANTA, Ga. - It was a tough day in Atlanta for the University of Evansville baseball team, as they suffered a heartbreaking extra inning loss to Kennesaw State , 7-6 in 12 innings, in their series opener with the Owls Friday.

Trailing for much of the game, the Aces were down to their final out, down 5-3, when sophomore center fielder Kenton Crews came to the plate with two aboard. Crews proceeded to drill a 3-run home run off Kennesaw State reliever Deviner McCray. And with one swing of the stick, Evansville had taken the lead, 6-5.

The Aces sent out closer Adam Lukas to close out the game in the bottom of the ninth, but the Owls had other ideas.
