ST. LOUIS – After pulling off the biggest win of the season on Sunday, perhaps it comes as no surprise that a University of Evansville women's soccer player was listed among the Missouri Valley Conference's weekly honors on Tuesday. It was Samantha Brown who'd become the first Purple Ace to earn the designation this year as she was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Brown, a freshman out of Glendora, Calif., was once again an important member of the Aces backline in Sunday's win at league-leading Drake. She played a role in two of the day's biggest plays, clearing a goal-bound shot off the line before feeding Colleen Dierkes for the match-winning goal in the 65th minute.
