Aces close out homestand with loss to UT Martin

EVANSVILLE — A five-run third inning put the University of Evansville baseball team behind on Tuesday night and the Purple Aces were unable to recover, ultimately falling 12-4 to visiting UT Martin at Charles H. Braun Stadium.

UE (7-12), which pushed across a pair of runs in the opening frame, followed up the five-run fifth by surrendering seven more over the next two innings before getting back on the board with a Jimmy Day two-run single in the seventh.

Tanner Wessling led the way for UT Martin (8-10) with a 3-for-6 showing at the plate with three scores and four runs batted in, and Anthony Anducci also plated four on the way to ending 2-for-4.
