Just as the lunch hour kicked off, Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Jim Rutherford confirmed that the Penguins had received permission from the Oilers to interview Todd Nelson for their AHL affiliates vacant coaching position.
This news comes a week after Darren Dreger reported that Nelson was in talks with McLellan to join his coaching staff. Personally, I feel that allow Nelson to leave would be a mistake even though we don’t have much say in his decision to leave, should he choose to do so.
Nelson has seen much success at the AHL level with the Oilers former affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons.
