Well, here we are again. For the 12th time in the past 13 years, barring a miracle, the Edmonton Oilers are going to miss the playoffs. It seems crazy and unbelievable to say, but it is true. I remember thinking at the end of last year, “alright, that was a tough year.
But it happens, and a lot of guys had down years. Now, if we miss again next year, that’ll be catastrophic”. Oilers fans have always had the “there’s always next year” mentality. However, the feel in this city with Oilers fans seems different this year.
The team gained a lot of “newbie” fans during the 2017 run; it seems as if a lot of those fans are gone now.
