After dropping their opening two games of this season, the Edmonton Oilers won seven of their next 10 contests. Much of the credit in reversing their fortunes belongs to leading scorer and captain Connor McDavid.
On Oct. 17, Postmedia's Michael Traikos observed McDavid's four goals and five assists in the Oilers' first four games accounted for 90 percent of their scoring. After six games, the Edmonton Sun's Jim Matheson reported McDavid factored in 11 of their 13 goals.
Matheson also pointed out the effort from the Oilers' secondary scorers was sorely lacking.
