After Nikita Nikitin was cut from the Edmonton Oilers, rumors started to fly as he got ready to head down to Bakersfield. One of them was an interesting report from a Russian magazine, stating that Nikitin was in talks to join his old KHL club, the Avangard Omsk. While some fans were shocked to see that the big defender would rather return to the Kontinental Hockey League instead of playing in the minors, others were disappointed in his low dedication to stay with the team and simply said “good riddance.”

Though there are mixed views about Nikitin leaving Bakersfield and the Oilers organization, it is not quite as easy as we all would think it was.
