Oilers add Jay Woodcroft and Jim Johnson to Coaching Staff

Edmonton Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, the club has appointed Jay Woodcroft and Jim Johnson as Assistant Coaches.

Woodcroft, 38, has spent the past five seasons as an Assistant Coach with the San Jose Sharks and has served as an Assistant Coach in the National Hockey league for eight seasons.

Prior to joining San Jose, Woodcroft spent three seasons on the Detroit Red Wings coaching staff from 2005-’08, including their 2008 Stanley Cup Championship season.

In eight seasons in the NHL, Woodcroft has been a part of 397 regular season wins, five Western Conference titles, six Division titles, three Presidents’ Trophies and a Stanley Cup championship.
