Some things never truly change. Despite a new slew of world-class talent headlined by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, these are still the same, old Oilers.
Having just fired head coach Todd McLellan, Edmonton would probably admit that their season hasn’t gone as planned. Their stars are still playing like stars, but the rest of the team just can’t play up to snuff. That middling kind of play as well as the continued struggles of goaltender Cam Talbot have put the Oilers behind in the playoff race early, and it’ll be a challenge for new head coach Ken Hitchcock to bring the team back into the hunt.
