McDavid scores five goals in Oilers prospects’ intrasquad game

EDMONTON - There’s a faint familiarity now for Connor McDavid and his new hockey home.

He spent a week in Rexall Place, cycled through the river valley with the prospects who were in Edmonton for the Oilers’ orientation camp, met with team captain Andrew Ference, and experienced the frenzy his addition to the club has caused.

McDavid then punctuated his week with a five-goal performance during the Billy Moores Cup, the camp finale.

Following a poignant tribute to the late Const. Daniel Woodall, whose wife Claire and sons Gabe and Callen stepped out to centre ice for a ceremonial puck drop on Monday, the players took part in an intersquad scrimmage that drew an appreciative crowd of 7,300 to Rexall Place.
