After many years of watching other teams compete in the Winter Classic, Heritage Classic and Stadium Series, the Edmonton Oilers will finally get a turn once again, this time, heading to an icy, outdoor rink in Winnipeg to take on the Jets.
That’s right. The Oilers will play the Winnipeg Jets in the Heritage Classic on the weekend of Oct. 22-23. TSN’s Sarah Orleksy reports that the League will make the official announcement tomorrow in Winnipeg.
This is an exciting push forward for the league. It has been a couple of years since the last Heritage Classic, a brawl between the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators in 2013-14.
