There have been talks and rumors of late about the Edmonton Oilers and their pursuit of a right-handed, puck-moving defenseman. They got a top-four shutdown RHD in Adam Larsson (and there’s no argument that he isn’t a shutdown guy), but they still lack the puck-moving quarterback on the right side.
Recently, it’s been said that the Oilers won’t be looking into free agency for a RHD to fill that spot, and will instead wait for a “big fish” to get loose (the words of TSN’s Ryan Rishaug). One of those big fish is rumored to be Avalanche RFA Tyson Barrie, who seems to be headed to arbitration.
