The Edmonton Oilers still have three days before the draft and a couple more right-handed defensive options, and talks continue to be on the rise. Now, there is speculation that the Oilers are trying to acquire Blues defender Kevin Shattenkirk, but may have also inquired about Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba.
According to TSN insider Darren Dreger, Trouba’s name was out there for the Oilers, but he would have costed them one of their most valuable defenders and top prospects.
“The Oilers would like Shattenkirk. Trouba’s name has been out there but to acquire Trouba, you’re talking about a Darnell Nurse, as an example, if you’re the Oilers and the Oilers don’t want to do that.
