Edmonton Oilers to Sign Drake Caggiula, Get More Depth

The Edmonton Oilers will sign Drake Caggiula, who has reportedly committed to the team, as per NHL insiders Elliotte Friedman and Bob McKenzie. They beat out other teams, such as the Philadelphia Flyers and the Vancouver Canucks, to sign him.

Caggiula was going to play junior hockey with the Erie Otters, but opted to attend the University of North Dakota and play in the NCAA. That was when he passed up the opportunity to play with Connor McDavid, according to McKenzie, but now, he will have the chance to skate with the 18-year-old phenomenon.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound left winger was named the NCAA Tournament MVP, and struck twice in the final game to help his team take home the college championship.
