Edmonton Oilers to Name Keith Gretzky Assistant GM: Report

The Edmonton Oilers will name Keith Gretzky as their Assistant General Manager, as per multiple reports that broke out Monday.

As his name suggests, Keith is the younger brother of Wayne Gretzky. He is currently the Director of Amateur Scouting for the Boston Bruins, General Manger Peter Chiarelli’s former team.

Gretzky served as the Director of Amateur Scouting for the Arizona Coyotes, starting in 2006 and leaving in 2013, and also worked as a scout with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Ontario Hockey League. He also had a background playing the game.

Gretzky was selected 56th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, and despite attending training camps and playing in the preseason matchups, he never suited up in the big leagues.
