The Edmonton Oilers are still on the hunt when it comes to a number-one defenseman, however, that is no reason to be pessimistic. According to multiple sources, including ESPN insider Pierre LeBrun and Oilers Now host Bob Stauffer, the Oilers are closer to making the perfect deal for a top defenseman.
According to LeBrun, who was on TSN1260 Monday morning, the Oilers will get a deal done sooner rather than later, and it will be for the perfect piece.
“He will get his defenseman. It doesn’t have to be draft weekend. Obviously, there were other opportunities there for Peter Chiarelli to get a deal or two done over the weekend, if for no other reason than his fourth-overall pick was in place for awhile.
