Edmonton Oilers Sign NCAA Forward Patrick Russell

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Patrick Russell to a two-year, entry-level contract, General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced Monday.

Russell played for the St. Cloud State University Huskies of the NCAA, scoring 66 points (30 G, 36 A) in 81 career NCAA games. In 2015-16, he finished with 41 points (20 G, 21 A) in 41 games. Russell is a pretty big guy, standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing in at 205 pounds. The sophomore is the second NCAA forward that the Oilers have signed this past week, after highly-courted Drake Caggiula.

SB Nation College Hockey reported on Russell, naming him the 68th-top NCAA prospect available.
