The Edmonton Oilers signed defenseman Ethan Bear to an entry-level contract, General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced Saturday.
Bear, a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, proved to have one of the best seasons in the WHL. Playing in juniors with the Seattle Thunderbirds, Bear racked up 65 points (19 goals, 46 assists) in 69 regular season games.
He also proved to be a lethal weapon for the T-Birds in the WHL playoffs, where his 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) in 18 postseason games helped lead Seattle to the WHL Finals. His overtime goals were also ones that helped the team advance as far as they did.
