The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenseman Caleb Jones to a three-year, entry-level contract, general manager Peter Chiarelli announced Thursday.
Jones was selected 117th overall by the Oilers in the 2015 entry draft and had a pretty impressive preseason with Edmonton during training camp.
The 18-year-old defenseman is the younger brother of Seth Jones, who now plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Back in November, the Oilers were rumored to be in on acquiring Jones in a big trade, but that turned out to be a false claim.
Jones is a 6-foot-1 left-handed defenseman and weighs in at 195 pounds.
