The former Oilers winger retired from Edmonton three seasons ago, but still played for the senior AAA Stony Brook Eagles. Though a recent blindside hit resulted in a concussion and separated shoulder for the 41-year-old, he’s still on the roster. Smyth is the team captain, and the team took to Twitter to congratulate the “legend” on his induction.
In 14 seasons and 971 games as an Edmonton Oiler, Smyth posted 296 goals and 631 points. He was an instrumental player and leader on and off the ice.
