Formerly a New York Rangers draft pick, Mantha signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Oilers in March. The 21-year-old defenceman had a breakout season with the Niagara Ice Dogs, finishing with 17 goals and 58 points through 65 games. Not only that, but he served as the captain and led Niagara to the OHL playoffs.
Mantha’s regular season success carried over into the offseason, and he shined among the prospects at camp. He skated well and looked solid, and is certainly on his way to a full-time AHL gig next season.
