The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenseman Mark Fayne from Bakersfield today, according to AHL records. Rob Klinkhammer is also on the injured reserve, giving the Oilers space on their 23-man roster.
Fayne was waived by Edmonton about a week ago. The struggling defender was putting up poor numbers with Edmonton, which included a minus-8 rating and a lone assist through 24 games with Edmonton. After horrendous performances game in and game out, the Oilers decided enough was enough and sent him down.
While it established some discipline in the organization, the team recalled Nikita Nikitin, who ironically enough didn’t make the team out of training camp.
