The Edmonton Oilers made some moves today, reassigning Zack Kassian, Brad Hunt and Griffin Reinhart to AHL Bakersfield. General manager Peter Chiarelli announced the transactions this morning.
Before we start freaking out and screaming that Kassian was phenomenal and shouldn’t be sent back down, think of it this way. It is more time for conditioning; the Oilers have 10 more days before they return to NHL action, thanks to the All-Star break. This will give Kassian, Hunt and Reinhart more time to skate and play some games down in the minor leagues, and they will have more experience and be fully ready to go for Feb.
