The Edmonton Oilers have made another transaction and placed left winger Lauri Korpikoski on waivers for the purpose of buyout, General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced Thursday.
Korpikoski was acquired by the Oilers coming into the 2015-16 season, where the Coyotes acquired Boyd Gordon in exchange for the Finnish winger; however, his skill level never came to fruition in Edmonton. He brought size to the lineup, coming in at 6-foot-1, 193 pounds, but couldn’t seem to bring too much to the Oilers lineup.
In 71 games with the Oilers, Korpikoski scored 22 points (10 G, 12 A), but put up a minus-17 rating and some of the worst defensive numbers on the team.
