After his poor play the past few games, The Edmonton Oilers have decided to place defenceman Mark Fayne on waivers. Assuming he isn’t claimed by another team, Fayne adds to the list of MacTavish contracts that are being buried in Bakersfield with Nikita Nikitin and Ben Scrivens. It is unlikely that Fayne is picked up at this point in the season, especially because of his salary cap.
Fayne’s $14 million contract could save a lot of cap space for Edmonton, and if no team picks up Fayne (which again will probably not happen), then he will head down to Bakersfield and join the likes of the rest of the graveyard of Oilers contracts.
