Though the power-play is starting to click, the Oilers’ penalty kill has greatly struggled over the last few games. The Panthers went 2-for-2 Wednesday, and the Predators managed three PPG on five attempts Sunday. Edmonton held Washington, a team that possesses one of the top power-play units in the league, scoreless on two attempts Friday.
First off, the Oilers need to stay out of the box. The team took five penalties against Nashville Sunday, including a late one on Patrick Maroon that ruined their final rally. Eric Gryba took a poor penalty in the third period of Friday’s game against the Capitals.
