Every team in the NHL is nominating a member for consideration for the NHL’s Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Today, the Edmonton Oilers nominated Matt Hendricks for the Masterton.
The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is given to one player, selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA), who “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.”
Hendricks has been with the Oilers for a long time and is one of the players on the team who is very much a leader. This year, he was named one of the four alternate captains for the Oilers, and has been a great presence on and off the ice, as well as in the locker room.
