The Edmonton Oilers have a variety of options, but they are running out of time. The 2016 NHL Entry Draft is in less than two weeks, and Peter Chiarelli is running out of time. Sportsnet took the time to discuss the options, and which one seems most likely.
Mark Spector pointed out three options that the Oilers have: to trade members of the “core,” trade the fourth-overall pick or move down in the draft.
“So this scenario is perhaps the most likely: Edmonton makes a deal with the Arizona Coyotes, who own the seventh overall pick, Buffalo Sabres (8th) or Montréal Canadiens (9th), swapping first-round picks and sending a solid NHL defenceman to Edmonton.
