When the Edmonton Oilers signed Milan Lucic to a seven-year, $42 million deal, many were excited to see the Oilers changing the culture and making the team bigger and tougher.
However, some were critical to see Edmonton trade away Taylor Hall, the top-scoring draft pick and star left-winger and replace him with a 28-year-old tough guy.
What was even more shocking was when fans chimed in and compared the Lucic signing to that of the Maple Leafs’ David Clarkson signing, where they inked him to a seven-year, $36.75 million contract. That proved to be a huge mistake, and they ended up relieving themselves from his ridiculous contract in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
