It looks like Bogdan Yakimov’s dream of playing in the NHL will have to wait. The Edmonton Oilers have loaned him to the Kontinental Hockey League’s Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, the team announced Wednesday.
Yakimov was drafted 83rd overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft during General Manager Craig MacTavish’s reign. His selection was a product of trading down.
This past season, Yakimov split time between the Oilers’ AHL-Affiliate Bakersfield Condors and Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. The 6-foot-5, 231 pound centre played in 36 games wth the Condors this past season, scoring 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) and posting a minus-4.
