Edmonton extended qualifying offers to four restricted free agents: Leon Draisaitl, Joey Laleggia, Dillon Simpson and Bogdan Yakimov. David Musil, Henrik Samuelsson, Anton Lander, Jere Salinen, Eetu Laurikainen and Zachary Pochiro (contract) did not receive offers. All of them are mainly minor-league players but are all going to play in Europe next season.
As the Oilers look toward free agency, there is a lot of business to take care of. Perhaps the top items on Edmonton’s agenda are locking up Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid to long-term deals. Clearly, the Oilers chose to save up as much money as possible by only making offers to four players.
