Jokinen was an alternate captain with the Florida Panthers last season, registering 11 goals and 28 points through 69 games. The Panthers bought out Jokinen this summer for the final year of his contract. Through his 891 game career, Jokinen has racked up 186 goals and 546 points.
Many believed that the Oilers would consider right wingers in free agency in order to address that area that needs more depth, but the Jokinen signing still brings a lot to the table. Overall, the 34-year-old still has plenty to contribute to the Oilers organization.
