Edmonton Oilers Hire Jeremy Coupal as New Video Coach

The Edmonton Oilers have hired Jeremy Coupal as their new video coach, General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced Thursday.

Coupal spent his last three seasons as a video coordinator for the Nashville Predators. The 27-year-old will take over his new position in the fall. He will replace Myles Fee, who had been Edmonton’s Video Coach since 2009.

According to the Oilers’ Twitter feed, Fee has decided to leave the organization in order to “pursue other interests.”

Contrary to the belief of some, video coaches are some of the most important coaches in the game, especially when it comes to NHL hockey being played.
