The Edmonton Oilers seemed to find their starting goaltender when they signed Cam Talbot to a hefty three-year extension midway through this past season. Now, they ensured him as the starter, signing back-up Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year deal so he can compete with Laurent Brossoit for the number-two position when it comes to Edmonton’s goaltending depth chart.
However, some believe that the Oilers will have a problem in the crease going forward, mainly because Talbot was streaky this past season, Brossoit struggled in his NHL appearances and Gustavsson is a shaky netminder. There is no reason that the goaltending should worry the team, as it surely isn’t the issue that will plague the Oilers.
