EDMONTON — Craig MacTavish’s new official title is yet to be announced, but the former Edmonton Oilers general manager, who has bled orange and blue for over 30 years, will be new GM Peter Chiarelli’s right-hand man in the shuffled management hierarchy.
Losing his job a week ago was a kick in the gut, but he’s not being kicked to the curb.
While Chiarelli, who also is the team’s president of hockey operations, can use MacTavish’s expertise with the players throughout the organization, obviously, that’s not what is most attractive to the ex-Boston Bruins GM.
