With the Edmonton Oilers targeting defenseman for a major trade that would upgrade their defense, they need to look beyond St. Louis and Carolina. It seems less likely that the Oilers get their hands on Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk and Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.
Oilers Now host Bob Stauffer tweeted out his explanation as to why these two aren’t “in the mix.” First off, he believes that Faulk is just not in play for the Hurricanes anymore, and second, he thinks Shattenkirk will be traded to an eastern conference team.
