Though both of these players are ideally AHL-calibre forwards, this is a solid trade for the Oilers. Fontaine has proven he has worth as an NHL forward and can contribute as a solid scorer on the bottom six. In 60 games with Minnesota last season, Fontaine had five goals and 16 points, and was a plus-3.
This season, Fontaine has spent his time with the Hartford Wolf Pack, posting nine goals and 30 points in 50 games this season. He is a solid, two-way player who performs at a top-producing level in the minor leagues, and can carry that over into the NHL.
