The Edmonton Oilers are still looking to make upgrades to their roster, preferably securing another right-handed defenseman before the start of the season. With that, they have some targets in Tyson Barrie, but there’s another restricted free agent that they have been said to look at: Cody Ceci.
The right-handed Senators defenseman is in a standstill when it comes to contract negotiations with Ottawa. He received a qualifying offer from Ottawa earlier, but the two have yet to agree to terms, and therefore, he might hold out until training camp.
While it doesn’t seem likely that the Senators would be quick to trade him away, it could be a possibility if he doesn’t agree to terms with them and is forced to sit out.
