Benson has been limited to just 63 games over the last two seasons with the Vancouver Giants, but still managed to put up 20 goals and 70 points. This past year, the 19-year-old captain dressed for 33 games and shined with 11 goals and 42 points.
Despite his scoring ability and continued upside, Benson’s injury troubles are concerning. He has been in and out of the lineup with a number of ailments, and recently underwent sports hernia surgery in April. He did skate with the Oilers at their development camp in Jasper this summer and is looking to get back on track with his development.
