The Edmonton Oilers made one of the biggest blockbuster trades of the summer, but that word seemed to only describe the deal from the New Jersey Devils’ perspective. Many were not thrilled with the return of defenseman Adam Larsson, because even though he’s right-handed, many were unsure of if he’s the exact solution to the Oilers problems.
What Edmonton lacks is a number-one right-handed, puck-moving defenseman, who can not only backcheck but also provide offense. Names like Tyson Barrie and Kevin Shattenkirk perfectly fit that position, but Larsson is an enigma.
The Swedish defenseman had 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) this past season, and did prove to have a booming shot from the point (when he does decide to shoot the puck).
