Edmonton Oilers: Cam Talbot’s Journey to Become Starting Goaltender

When Peter Chiarelli took the reins as the Oilers new general manager, he made a big move to start his first off-season. He traded for Cam Talbot, who would eventually go from sitting on the bench with his baseball cap on, to leading the Oilers’ rebuild as their number one man in net.

The ride from the minor leagues to starting in the NHL has been an interesting one for Talbot. Getting his start in the collegiate league, Talbot suited up for the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was named the MVP of the CHA Tournament in 2009-10, and was also named to the All-College Hockey America Second Team.
