The Oilers 2017 first-rounder has been impressive so far through the Young Stars tournament. He is also coming off a solid offseason with strong showing at Oilers Development Camp in July and the 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase.
Green was on Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer Monday before heading to Penticton, British Columbia for the annual rookie tournament. According to Green, he believes expects Yamamoto to compete come training camp.
“We think he’s going to fight for a job,” Green said. “I would never bet against a kid with as much ability as Kailer has, but it’s not going to be easy.
