Edmonton Oilers: Barrie Could Be Dealt Due to Cap Problems

The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly still working on making more moves, only to improve the roster so the team is ready to make another push forward come September. One of the pieces, however, that the Oilers are reportedly waiting on is Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie.

Barrie recently filed for arbitration, meaning that he and the Avalanche could not come to terms on a new contract. In arbitration, Barrie would have to get a contract of at least $3.5 million, and this could be a problem for the Avalanche. Obviously, Barrie’s asking price is going to be higher, and the Avalanche are running into trouble when it comes to this.
